The components of typical living room furniture are more or less the same. If you want to introduce an unusual element, try using a bench. Not the normal outdoor bench, but a beautifully crafted one with cushions to add to the visual appeal and the seating comfort. Or perhaps an intricate wrought iron bench along with some matching chairs to create a separate alcove within the living room area. It is sometimes difficult to know how to fill up the lower part of a wall. Long slim benches, placed against a wall, can do this effectively without taking up too much space.
